What are sealing materials

• Called also sealing products, sealing materials prevent leakage or inflow of fluids. They are used for machinery and equipment in every industrial field, including oil refinery, petroleum chemical engineering, fertilizer, iron and steel, medicine, paper making, food, shipbuilding, automobile, and thermal and nuclear power plants, which deals with fluids, such as water, oil, gas, steam, and chemicals.
  
• Scaling materials are essential parts in machinery and equipment. For leakage of fluids from pumps, valves, pipes, boilers, towers, agitators, vessels, or heat exchangers may not only result in fire, explosion, pollution, or waste of resources, but also have to do with the maintenance cost.

Classification of Sealing Materials

• Sealing materials are largely devided into two categories, namely gaskets which are installed in places without movements and packings which are installed in places with movements.
